PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Suraski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chico Escuela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Escuela has chosen Wu-Tang Clan - Protect Ya Neck as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave Suraski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chico Escuela!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suraski just misses with a punch to the body.
Dave Suraski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Suraski fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Escuela avoids it really well and circles away.

Escuela gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Suraski to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Escuela is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Suraski is aware though and is defending well.

Escuela had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Suraski defends it easily.

Suraski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Escuela's guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Suraski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Escuela keeps working.
Escuela manages to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Suraski changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Escuela tries to avoid it but Suraski manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Escuela to the ground. Escuela escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Suraski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Escuela circles away.
Suraski fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Suraski. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
