PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ron James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Kissinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Henry Kissinger was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Henry Kissinger!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kissinger closes the distance looking to clinch
and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
James thows a body kick. Kissinger tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Kissinger tries to clinch
and James counters with a good low kick that Kissinger was not able to check.
James scores with a leg kick.
Kissinger swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by James.
James thows a body kick. Kissinger tries to catch it but that hurt him.
James swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Jab by James.
This has been an exciting period of action!
James throws out a loose jab but Kissinger uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kissinger tries to clinch up
and James counters with a straight right hand.
James lands with a thumping leg kick.
James chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Kissinger ducks down and throws a hook to the body but James moves away.

James looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kissinger is trying to stand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kissinger is trying to stand back up but James is controlling him
James wants to take a breather but Kissinger is having none of it.
James is really struggling to control Kissinger but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Kissinger has hold of James's hands but James slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
James tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kissinger knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
James looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kissinger with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
James throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kissinger keeping hold of James's head, controlling as best he can.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kissinger manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
James wants to pass the guard but Kissinger is keeping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James trying to control but Kissinger is working from the bottom.
James throws a big right hand that misses.
James passes into half guard.
James stops Kissinger from getting back to his feet.
James takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
James lands strikes from half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kissinger wants to control but James is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kissinger taking some punishment here, with James in his half guard.
James lands with a punch from half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kissinger is in trouble now - James has advanced to mount!
James scoring with strikes but Kissinger is staying in there.
James raining down shots from the mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
James landing strikes from the mount and Kissinger is in trouble!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ron James dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kissinger darts in trying to clinch
and James counters with a stiff right hand.
James clobbers Kissinger with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
James turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Kissinger tries to clinch
and James counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kissinger swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kissinger moves in looking to clinch but James pushes him off.
Kissinger is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
James's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kissinger under the eye.


Kissinger is rocked!
Kissinger darts in trying to clinch
and James counters with a thumping low kick.
Kissinger tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. James manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
James connects with a jab.
Kissinger is still on wobbly legs! Can James finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!
James keeps the fight on the outside.
Kissinger shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Henry Kissinger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James throws a leg kick which misses Kissinger's front leg but catches the back leg as Kissinger tries to avoid it.
Kissinger walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Kissinger limp body while James jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ron James!
Ron James tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
