PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johhny Stan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mamed Khalidovv (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khalidovv is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Shamhan Daldaev - Eto Kavkaz . Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Khalidovv scores with a takedown into Stan's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Stan trying to control the position.
Khalidovv lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Khalidovv postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Stan throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Khalidovv avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Khalidovv working some strikes from top position.
Khalidovv stands and throws Stan's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Stan is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Stan looks like he's trying to stand up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Stan trying to control from the bottom.
Khalidovv thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stan's head.
Khalidovv has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Stan tries to reverse the position but Khalidovv maintains control.
Khalidovv postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Stan looks a forlorn figure.

Khalidovv moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Stan has worked his arm free - good work by Stan!

Khalidovv tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Khalidovv has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Stan is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Khalidovv off and has taken his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Khalidovv prevents Stan from getting a body triangle.
Khalidovv controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Stan trying to control momentarily.
Khalidovv turns into Stan and is now in his guard.

Khalidovv is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Stan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Khalidovv passes into half guard.

Khalidovv prevents Stan from improving his position.
Stan is trying to maintain the position but Khalidovv is very close to passing his half guard.
Stan manages to get to full guard.

Stan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Khalidovv defends it easily.
Khalidovv keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Stan's head.
Stan controls Khalidovv momentarily but Khalidovv frees himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Khalidovv accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Khalidovv is posturing up here but Stan has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Khalidovv tries to roll out but it's too tight and Khalidovv has to tap! Slick submission there by Stan!
