PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kasey Ballard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Prototype (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ballard might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Eye of the Tiger. Kasey Ballard looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Prototype tries to clinch there but Ballard circles away.

Prototype is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ballard's half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Prototype decides to stand and escape the position.
Ballard stuffs the takedown attempt from Prototype. Prototype gets slowly back to his feet.
Ballard swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Prototype counters with a single leg into guard. Ballard didn't expect that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Prototype stands up and waves to Ballard to follow him.

Ballard throws a sloppy head kick and Prototype moves out of range easily.
Ballard throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Prototype feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Patrick Prototype hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Prototype throws a body kick that misses.
A bone on bone clash there as Ballard blocks the leg kick.
Prototype moves in looking to clinch but Ballard pushes him off.

Prototype bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ballard on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ballard tries to get out of the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Prototype has control of an arm but Ballard manages to advance to Prototype's back!

Prototype manages to reverse the position and now he's in Ballard's guard. Nice work there by Prototype.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Prototype postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ballard to stand up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's time! Ballard's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ballard closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Prototype is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Prototype has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ballard avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Ballard has Prototype pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Prototype manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Prototype goes for a takedown attempt but Ballard pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Kasey Ballard is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Prototype will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Prototype leaves Ballard with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
