Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Kirshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oishi Yoshio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Yoshio's choice of entrance music: "Stronger" by Kanye West . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thomas Kirshaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Oishi Yoshio!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirshaw tries a low kick but Yoshio avoids it.
Kirshaw misses with a series of wild punches.
Kirshaw fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Yoshio checks it well.

and Yoshio counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Yoshio misses with a wild body shot.
Kirshaw swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kirshaw swings for the body but Yoshio moves out of range.

It looks like Oishi Yoshio has been cut.
Yoshio thows a body shot but no joy.
Kirshaw slips a jab and a cross from Yoshio.

Yoshio throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kirshaw stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Yoshio connects with a leg kick. Kirshaw looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Kirshaw throws a nice looking combination but Yoshio bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Kirshaw scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Yoshio doesn't seem bothered though.

Yoshio is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Kirshaw clobbers Yoshio with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Kirshaw tries to land a front kick but Yoshio steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Yoshio throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kirshaw comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Yoshio closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Yoshio lands in his opponent's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Yoshio is working for a submission of some sort.
Yoshio is pressing down on Kirshaw's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kirshaw is holding on for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kirshaw on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Yoshio is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kirshaw rather than just go for the knockout.

Kirshaw is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Yoshio throws a strike but Kirshaw rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Yoshio is trying to hold Kirshaw in close to prevent damage but Kirshaw has managed to pass into half guard.

Oishi Yoshio has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Yoshio does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Kirshaw throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Yoshio on the side of the head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kirshaw creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Yoshio is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kirshaw is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kirshaw has escaped and now he's on top!

I've got Yoshio winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
