Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marijo Palavra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and D J Rich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marijo Palavra had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 18 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, D J Rich!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Illya Tyunina and Fedor Mirinova.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rich closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Palavra looking for a takedown.
Rich prevents the takedown attempt.

Rich pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rich tries to score with a low kick but Palavra moves his leg out of the way.
Palavra will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marijo Palavra. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rich lands with an overhand left.
Rich connects with a good right hand that stumbles Palavra. Palavra circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Rich throws a head kick that misses.
Rich throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Palavra stuffs the takedown attempt from Rich. Rich gets slowly back to his feet.
Rich pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Palavra back to the cage. Rich follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Palavra moves out of range of the leg kick from Rich.

Palavra drops his hands momentarily and Rich takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Palavra fails to land the takedown.

Palavra gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Palavra is pulling down on Rich's head. It's preventing any offense from Rich, at least for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Palavra uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Rich throws a right and a left that Palavra avoids nicely.
Rich looks to land a body kick but Palavra moved away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Palavra avoids the head kick by Rich.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rich looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rich has a takedown stuffed.
No luck for Palavra with that takedown attempt.
Palavra needs to keep his hands up - Rich had a free shot at his head there.
Rich misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rich swings for the body but Palavra moves out of range.

Rich shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rich was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rich is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Palavra is surviving well by controlling Rich's body position as best he can.

Palavra wants to hold on but Rich pushes him away.
Rich tries to push Palavra's head away but Palavra is holding on tight.
Rich lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Rich looking to control but Palavra is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Palavra is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Palavra is squirming around, avoiding Rich's attempts to control the action.
Palavra gets back to half guard.

Rich is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Rich is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Rich throwing shots but Palavra is blocking nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

D J Rich dominated that round.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rich gets caught flat footed, as Palavra shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Palavra postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rich looking to control.
Rich wants to sweep but no luck.
D J Rich has got the better of the ground game so far.

Rich is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Palavra frees his head nicely. Oh but Rich has switched to an armbar! Palavra is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
