PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juan Corrida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corrida comes into the arena with Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Corrida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Mike Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Peterson.
Peterson tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Corrida is able to avoid easily.

Corrida keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Peterson counters with a left and a right that stings Corrida.

A punch lands to the side of Corrida 's head but he takes it in his stride.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Corrida wants to clinch up but Peterson keeps it at a distance.

Peterson tries to bum rush Corrida with a series of wild strikes but Corrida uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Peterson throws a leg kick which misses Corrida's front leg but catches the back leg as Corrida tries to avoid it.
Peterson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Corrida misses with a low kick.
Corrida takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Peterson avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Corrida wants to clinch.
Corrida walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Peterson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

A looping hook to the body misses from Peterson. Corrida does a little dance to reset his feet.

Peterson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Corrida feints and then cracks Peterson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Peterson down.

The fighters circling - Peterson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nice shot lands for Corrida.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Peterson is looking to control Corrida's arms but Corrida gets an underhook and turns him. Now Peterson has his back to the cage.

Corrida gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Corrida connects with a couple of short punches.
Peterson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Corrida throws an elbow that misses. Peterson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Corrida's guard. Nice move by Peterson!
Mike Peterson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Peterson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Corrida not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Peterson is posturing up here but Corrida has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Peterson tries to roll out but it's too tight and Peterson has to tap! Slick submission there by Corrida!
