Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Trey Anastasio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raul Izold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anastasio comes to the cage accompanied by Tweezer. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trey Anastasio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raul Izold!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Bruno Lombardi and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Anastasio closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Izold did well to prevent Anastasio getting side control.
Izold is not content to let Anastasio control the position.

Anastasio is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Anastasio trying to mount his opponent but Izold defends it.

Izold has one foot on Anastasio's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Izold misses with a two punch combination.
Sloppy strikes from Izold. Those never looked like landing.
Anastasio moves forwards but Izold connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Izold connects with a right hand. Anastasio shakes it off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Izold throws a one two combo.


It looks like Trey Anastasio has been cut.
Izold displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

Anastasio shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Izold is controlling an arm, preventing Anastasio from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Anastasio jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Izold is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Izold and Anastasio has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ground and pound from Anastasio seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Anastasio misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Izold dodges the ground and pound from Anastasio.
Izold is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Anastasio is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Izold is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Anastasio trying to control the action but Izold is working from the bottom.

Anastasio is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Izold has escaped the position, nice work there.
Izold tries to escape but Anastasio is in control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Anastasio looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Anastasio advances to full mount.
Izold really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Anastasio. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Anastasio is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Izold is surviving well by controlling Anastasio's body position as best he can.

Anastasio is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Izold is forced to tap! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Trey Anastasio!
After the fight, Trey Anastasio was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
