Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tap Out (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonard Washington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Washington has chosen Snuffed Out by Streetlife as his entrance music. Washington has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tap Out!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Leonard Washington!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Out defending well as Washington loads up on a big left hand.
Out keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Washington.
A head kick misses from Washington.
Washington looks gassed!

Out darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Out seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Out thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Washington keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Out seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Washington does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Washington blocking the ground and pound attempt from Out.
Out wants to get back to his feet.

Out decides to stand and escape the position.
Out scores with a push kick.

Washington gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Out to score an easy takedown into full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Out postures up in Washington's guard and throws a big left but Washington blocks it.
Out wants to stand but Washington has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

We're going to have a standup here because Tap Out wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Out throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Washington's waist but Washington gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Out off to one side.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Out.
Out controls the position from side control.

Out looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Out stands up and beckons Washington to his feet.
Out moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Leonard Washington has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Out will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Out misses with a jab, cross combination.
Out pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Washington back to the cage. Out follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Leonard Washington seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Washington throws a hook but Out avoids it easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Out is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Washington has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Washington there as he acknowledges the shot.

Out content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Out wants to stand but Washington has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Out wants to take a breather but Washington is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Tap Out just wasn't active enough.
Out throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Washington's waist but Washington gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Out off to one side.

Out feints and as Washington raises his hands in defense, Out changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Out with a flurry of punches that miss.
Out stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Washington swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Out trying to control the position from guard on top but Washington is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Tap Out wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
No luck for Out with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tap Out. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Out moves in looking to clinch but Washington pushes him off.
Out fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Washington stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Washington wants it to stay on the feet.
Out is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Washington can do to turn this around?
Out looks for a takedown but Washington sprawls well.
Out dives in and grabs Washington's left leg, looking for a takedown. Washington pushes down on Out's head and hops out.

Out feints a jab promting Washington to slip. Out then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Washington slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Out fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Out shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Out showed some decent athleticism there.

Out wants to control the pace but Washington is squirming around nicely.

Out controlling the position easily from mount.
Washington takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Out with the ground and pound from mount.
Out sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Out throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Leonard Washington has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Poor strikes thrown by Out there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Out trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Out is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Washington is surviving well by controlling Out's body position as best he can.

Out goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Washington turns into him and now he's in Out's guard.

Washington got a little sloppy there for a moment and Out has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Washington has managed to get both his arms back between Out's legs - danger averted.
Tap Out is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Out lands an upkick as Washington stands over him.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Out has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
