Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Akira Ishikawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Williamson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ishikawa might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to mindshift genki sudo. Akira Ishikawa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Akira Ishikawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anthony Williamson!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williamson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ishikawa has time to react.
Ishikawa tries to close the distance and clinch but Williamson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Williamson misses with a combination

and Ishikawa counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Williamson!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Ishikawa controlling the position easily from mount.
Ishikawa trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Ishikawa has control of Williamson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Williamson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Williamson is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Ishikawa moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Williamson has worked his arm free - good work by Williamson!

Ishikawa misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Ishikawa is trying to ground and pound but Williamson uses the momentary lack of control by Ishikawa to regain half guard.

Ishikawa is looking for a kimura but Williamson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ishikawa to get the leverage.

Williamson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ishikawa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Williamson is refusing to be controlled, as Ishikawa sits in half guard.

Williamson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Ishikawa drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Ishikawa is looking to clinch but Williamson is avoiding it.
Ishikawa uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Williamson.

Williamson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ishikawa looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

and Ishikawa connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Williamson throws a head kick but Ishikawa moves out of range.
Williamson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ishikawa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Williamson pinned against the cage. Williamson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akira Ishikawa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Williamson throws out a loose jab but Ishikawa uses good head movement to avoid it.

Williamson might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Ishikawa tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Williamson swivels and escapes.
Ishikawa shoots in looking for a takedown but Williamson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ishikawa's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ishikawa shoots for a double leg takedown but Williamson sprawls well. He's pushed Ishikawa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Williamson has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Ishikawa has picked Williamson up - he's going for a ride! Ishikawa dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Ishikawa content to control rather than advance.
Williamson tries to kick Ishikawa off but Ishikawa keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ishikawa with the ground and pound but Williamson uses the opportunity to regain guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Anthony Williamson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Ishikawa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Ishikawa working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Williamson looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Ishikawa! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Akira Ishikawa!
