Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michael Gleiser!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Freddie Mercury!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Aafke Stam and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gleiser throws a nice looking combination but Mercury bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mercury throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Gleiser.


It looks like Michael Gleiser has been cut.
Mercury connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Mercury throws a low kick but Gleiser moves out of range easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gleiser avoids a kick to the body.
Gleiser shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Gleiser clinches.
Mercury misses with a body punch.
Gleiser tries to land knees in the clinch but Mercury avoids the damage to the body.
A nice left hand lands by Mercury.

Gleiser drags the fight down to the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mercury wants to pass the guard but Gleiser is keeping the position.
Mercury looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gleiser throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Mercury escapes and throws Gleiser's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Gleiser gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gleiser is looking to improve his position.
Mercury performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Gleiser looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Mercury keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Mercury is looking to take a break and control but Gleiser is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Freddie Mercury.
Gleiser looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Gleiser shoots in looking for a takedown. Mercury tries to sprawl out of it but Gleiser keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mercury manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Gleiser. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gleiser dives in and grabs Mercury's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mercury pushes down on Gleiser's head and hops out.

and Mercury counters with an inside leg kick.
Mercury is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mercury avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mercury scores with a punch to the head.
Gleiser is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gleiser tries to clinch up.
Good leg kick by Mercury there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Gleiser throws a left and a right that both miss
and Mercury counters with a solid body kick.
Mercury connects with a leg kick. Gleiser looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Mercury lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Mercury fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Gleiser.
A solid leg kick lands there for Mercury.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gleiser takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Mercury scores with a jab to the body.
A head kick by Mercury - that's a beauty! Gleiser is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Mercury can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Freddie Mercury!
