Machida comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Calm Like a Bomb kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Peter Poirier could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mark Machida's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poirier fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Machida manages to avoid it.
Machida bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Poirier takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Machida connects with a looping right hand.
Poirier throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Poirier walks straight into a right hand from Machida - that's dropped him! Machida jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Poirier from any more punishment! Poirier complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
