Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mickey O Neil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as John Johnson enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mickey O Neil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with a looping right.
Johnson tries to clinch but O Neil is having none of it.
Johnson lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
O Neil digs a good hook to Johnson's body.
O Neil moves out of range of the body kick from Johnson.
O Neil throws a looping overhand right but Johnson ducks down to avoid it.
Johnson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
O Neil stuffs the takedown attempt from Johnson. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.
Johnson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

O Neil throws a jab when Johnson was well out of range.
Johnson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Johnson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Johnson lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Mickey O Neil has been cut.
Johnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Johnson throws a sloppy head kick and O Neil moves out of range easily.
O Neil misses with a two punch combination.
Johnson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. O Neil tries to avoid it but Johnson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag O Neil to the ground. O Neil escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up but O Neil swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mickey O Neil has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Johnson.
Johnson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Johnson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

O Neil throws out a loose jab but Johnson uses good head movement to avoid it.

and O Neil counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Johnson blocks a jab.
Johnson falls off balance throwing a combination
and O Neil counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
O Neil misses with a few strikes there.
Johnson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from O Neil.
Johnson connects with a high kick.
Johnson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but O Neil sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! O Neil crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Johnson - the referee stops the clock and O Neil gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Johnson. O Neil manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Johnson doesn't manage to clinch there - O Neil circles away.

O Neil has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

With the fighters up against the cage, Johnson throws an elbow but misses.
Johnson keeps control of O Neil as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mickey O Neil will probably get the nod.

That's time! O Neil's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


O Neil rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
O Neil loads up on a big right hand but Johnson slips the punch.
John Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johnson darts in and clinches O Neil up against the cage.
Johnson lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
O Neil tries to circle away but Johnson has him pinned against the cage.
O Neil takes an elbow to the forehead.
Johnson comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Johnson pushes off an throws an elbow but O Neil leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

O Neil dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Johnson stiff and motionless on the mat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mickey O Neil!
After winning the bout, Mickey O Neil thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
