Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pelayo Palhares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcos Duarte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marcos Duarte told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pelayo Palhares!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcos Duarte!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Columbo Gatti and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duarte fails with an attempt to clinch.
Duarte bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Palhares throws a jab when Duarte was well out of range.
Palhares shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Duarte manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Duarte has his foot on Palhares's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Palhares works his way back into a safe position though.

Palhares lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Pelayo Palhares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A decent looking cross lands there for Palhares.
Duarte shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Duarte was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Duarte wants to finish this one by submission but Palhares is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Duarte.

After winning the bout, Marcos Duarte thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
