The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Gan is out of range.
Smith throws a low kick but Gan moves out of range easily.
Gan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.
Gan misses with a body shot.
Smith throws a looping overhand right but Gan ducks down to avoid it.
Smith avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Smith throws a low kick but it's checked well by Gan.

Smith fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Gan checks it well.
Gan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smith was well out of range. Poor timing from Gan.

Smith misses with a low kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Smith. Gan does a little dance to reset his feet.
Smith throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Smith displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gan.
Slopey Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hoelie Gan.

Gan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Smith on his heels. He'll look to pass Smith's guard now, I'm sure.

Gan lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Smith at a distance.
Gan takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Smith wants to slow Gan down by chopping away at his legs.

Smith closes the distance and clinches.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Gan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Smith connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Smith stuffs the takedown attempt from Gan. Gan gets slowly back to his feet.
Smith throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Gan slips a straight right by Smith.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith misses with a few strikes there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gan shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Gan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
