The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierce avoids the head kick by Obata.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Obata tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice sprawl there from Obata as Pierce shoots in.
Pierce shoots in but Obata avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Obata lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Pierce misses with a takedown attempt - Obata sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Ozuma Obata has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Pierce.
Pierce looks for a takedown but Obata sprawls well.
Pierce fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Pierce shoots in but Obata avoids the takedown attempt easily.
The fighters circle momentarily. Obata darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Rafael Pierce has been cut.
Pierce takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Obata lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Obata dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Pierce. That did some damage!
Obata throws a sloppy head kick and Pierce moves out of range easily.
Obata lands a nice shot to the body.
Obata displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pierce.
Obata lands a big head kick that sends Pierce to the canvas! Obata follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

After the fight, Ozuma Obata was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
