PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Snoop Dogg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ted Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ted Smith told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Snoop Dogg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ted Smith!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Smith shoots in but Dogg avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dogg thumps Smith with a low kick.
Dogg throws a head kick that misses.

Dogg rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Dogg taking a breather.

Dogg manages to break the clinch.
Dogg cracks the inside of Smith's front leg.
Smith fails with the takedown.
Snoop Dogg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ted Smith.
Smith moves out of range of the leg kick from Dogg.
Smith wants to slow Dogg down by chopping away at his legs.
Smith looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Dogg gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Smith.
Smith jumps guard but Dogg stands there with Smith around his waist. Smith gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Dogg prevents the takedown attempt.
Smith avoiding damage as Dogg throws knees to the body.
Dogg dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Dogg misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Smith.
Dogg blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Dogg is trying to pull guard but Smith turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Smith is trying to break free.

Dogg is fighting off a takedown attempt but Smith is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dogg to the mat. Dogg regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Smith advances position into side control!
Smith misses with the ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Smith stands up and beckons Dogg to his feet.
Dogg lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Smith has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Dogg.

Dogg connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
A lazy left from Dogg finds it's target.

Dogg has taken the fight to the clinch.
Dogg misses with a knee strike.
Stalling in the clinch from Dogg.

Smith has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Dogg is trying to keep an underhook but Smith manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Dogg tries to kick Smith off but Smith keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Well, if Smith is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Dogg knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.
Smith thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dogg's head.

Nice strikes from Smith there.

Smith is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Dogg sees it coming and defends easily.
Smith has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Dogg is staying active underneath Smith, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Dogg is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dogg on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dogg tries to get out of the position.

Smith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Smith is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Dogg sees it coming and defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Snoop Dogg will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Smith misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Dogg tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Dogg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Dogg against the cage but Dogg circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ted Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Smith tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Dogg feints and then cracks Smith's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Smith down.
Dogg scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Smith on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Dogg. Dogg obviously looking to wear him down.

Dogg has Smith up against the cage in a clinch.

Smith decides to pull guard.
Dogg throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Dogg postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Dogg has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Smith controls Dogg momentarily but Dogg frees himself.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Dogg throws a chopping leg kick but Smith manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Smith takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Smith throws a series of punches but Dogg avoids them all with ease.
Dogg swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Smith takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Dogg misses with a body shot.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dogg paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Dogg lands a jab to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Crunch! Dogg slams his shin into Smith's torso.

Whack! Dogg lands a heavy head kick that drops Smith. The ref tackles Dogg to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Smith was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Snoop Dogg!
