PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between William Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Wintzloff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harrison kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is God's Gonna Cut You Down. Wintzloff has chosen slint as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, William Harrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Wintzloff!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wintzloff shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Harrison but Harrison pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Harrison lands with a cross.
Harrison waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Wintzloff.
Wintzloff moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Harrison misses with a straight right.
Wintzloff shoots in looking for a takedown. Harrison tries to sprawl out of it but Wintzloff keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Harrison manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wintzloff takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Harrison lands a jab.

Harrison gets a takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Harrison wants to take a breather but Wintzloff is having none of it.

Harrison is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Wintzloff is looking to improve his position.
Wintzloff has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Harrison is working away from the top position though.

Harrison is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wintzloff defends it well.

The fighters are battling for position here. Wintzloff manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Wintzloff controls Harrison momentarily but Harrison frees himself.
Harrison is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Harrison passes Wintzloff's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wintzloff pushes Harrison off and gets back to his feet.

Wintzloff doesn't manage to clinch there - Harrison circles away.
Harrison connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Wintzloff's hands.
Wintzloff shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
William Harrison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Wintzloff.
Wintzloff fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Wintzloff slaps away a takedown attempt from Harrison, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Wintzloff darts in and clinches Harrison up against the cage.

Wintzloff tries to break the clinch but Harrison is controlling the position.

Wintzloff tries for a takedown but Harrison sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Wintzloff keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Harrison.
The fighters circling - Harrison throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Jack Wintzloff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wintzloff takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Wintzloff tries to clinch there but Harrison circles away.
Wintzloff uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Harrison.
Harrison throws a hook but Wintzloff avoids it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Wintzloff looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Harrison throws out a loose jab but Wintzloff uses good head movement to avoid it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Harrison lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Wintzloff avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Wintzloff misses with a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Wintzloff takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Harrison fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Harrison changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Wintzloff pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Harrison looks to land a left hand but Wintzloff moved out of range nicely.
Harrison lands with a good body shot.
Harrison misses the shot to the body.
Nice uppercut there from Wintzloff.
Wintzloff takes a jab right on the kisser.
Wintzloff changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Harrison tries to avoid it but Wintzloff manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Harrison to the ground. Harrison escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A punch combination from Wintzloff misses.
Wintzloff moves to clinch but Harrison breaks away
and Harrison cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Harrison thows a body shot but no joy.
Harrison throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Wintzloff throws a head kick that misses.
Harrison throws a body punch but Wintzloff moves out of range.

Harrison decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Harrison is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wintzloff defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wintzloff keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Harrison seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wintzloff does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up. William Harrison wasn't doing enough on the ground.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Harrison is looking to take a break and control but Wintzloff is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Harrison tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Harrison has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Wintzloff is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Harrison off and has taken his back!

Harrison turns into Wintzloff and is now in his guard.
Wintzloff keeping moving, preventing Harrison from controlling successfully.
Harrison passes Wintzloff's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Wintzloff really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harrison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Harrison is keen to just control but Wintzloff is a slippery customer.
Wintzloff is looking to control Harrison's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wintzloff avoid being mounted?

Harrison is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wintzloff doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Harrison.
