Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Vincent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rokky Schneider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matthew Vincent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rokky Schneider!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vincent has his takedown stuffed

and Schneider counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Schneider.
A bit of stalling here from Schneider.

Schneider gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Vincent is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Schneider's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Schneider's back!

Vincent is riding his opponent, not letting Schneider buck him off.
I really don't envy Schneider right now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vincent tries to get the hooks in deep but Schneider pushed the leg off.

Vincent is hanging on to Schneider's back as he tries to escape.

Vincent is trying to stick to Schneider's back but Schneider is turning into Vincent. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Vincent's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Schneider.

Vincent is trying to control the position but Schneider postures up.

Vincent is working an open guard so Schneider takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vincent is breathing heavily.

Schneider fails with a takedown attempt.
Vincent shoots in for a double leg but Schneider sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Schneider throws a big shot that misses.
Vincent shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Schneider as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Vincent. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Schneider looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Schneider wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vincent keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rokky Schneider was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Vincent swats away the attempt to clinch by Schneider.

Vincent darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Schneider pushes Vincent off looking to stand but Vincent dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rokky Schneider will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Schneider trying to control the position from guard on top but Vincent is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vincent is trying to control the position but Schneider postures up.
Schneider controls from within his opponent's guard.

Schneider gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Matthew Vincent is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Schneider moves in looking to clinch but Vincent pushes him off.
Horrible takedown by Schneider or perhaps it was just good defense by Vincent which made him look bad.

Vincent dodges the punch combination from Schneider.

Vincent fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Schneider, pushing him back against the cage.
Vincent is working for takedown but Schneider is calmly controlling the position for now.
Schneider has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Vincent is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Schneider gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Vincent regains guard.
Schneider is breathing heavily.

Vincent can't keep his opponent in guard - Schneider advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Schneider looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Schneider trying to mount his opponent but Vincent defends it.
Schneider is looking to take a break and control but Vincent is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Vincent tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Schneider manages to move to mount!

Schneider takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Schneider swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Vincent is now in Schneider's guard. A big mistake from Schneider there, giving up the dominant position!

Vincent taking a break here but Schneider is having none of it and regains half guard.
Schneider keeping hold of Vincent's head, controlling as best he can.
Vincent content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Schneider won't allow Vincent to pass to mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Schneider can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Schneider is trying to control but can't.
Vincent is just content to waste time from the top position. Schneider takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rokky Schneider showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Schneider has closed the distance and engaged Vincent in a clinch.

Schneider has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Vincent uses from the top position.

Vincent decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Schneider, up you get!

Vincent manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Schneider is desperately trying to improve his position but Vincent has a good base and remains in mount.
BOOM! Vincent connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Schneider tries to hold on but Vincent pushes him away.

Vincent wants to control the pace but Schneider is squirming around nicely.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Vincent wants to control the action but instead Schneider gets a body lock and reverses into Vincent's guard! Nice work!

Schneider stands up from Vincent's guard - Schneider perhaps looking for a knockout.
Schneider throws a right and a left that Vincent avoids nicely.

Vincent scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Schneider tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vincent sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Schneider somewhat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Vincent.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Vincent. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Schneider is trying hard to land a takedown here. Vincent sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Schneider takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Schneider shoots in but Vincent avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Vincent shoots in and gets a takedown into Schneider's guard.
Schneider keeping moving, preventing Vincent from controlling successfully.
Vincent is really struggling to control Schneider but he's trying to hold on to the position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Matthew Vincent just wasn't active enough.
Schneider will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Matthew Vincent.
Well Schneider has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
