The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva moves forwards but Joe connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Silva connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Joe momentarily.

It looks like Ugly Kid Joe has been cut.
Joe looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Silva throws a hook but Joe avoids it easily.
Joe slips a straight right by Silva.

Nice combo by Silva! Oh, that's hurt him - Joe falls to the canvas and Silva follows him into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Silva cracks Joe with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Silva immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Joe is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Silva!

Junior Silva really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that MMA ANIMAL logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
