PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between TJ Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arturo Rey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maximus comes to the cage accompanied by Hailmary. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Rey throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Rey misses with a two punch combination.
Rey will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rey has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rey digs a right hand into Maximus's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Maximus's gas tank.

Rey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rey's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Maximus connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rey scrambles back to his feet.
Rey misses with a head kick.
Maximus fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rey rushes Maximus and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Rey feints a jab promting Maximus to slip. Rey then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Maximus slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Maximus throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Maximus lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rey circles away quickly and effectively.
Maximus is breathing heavily.
Maximus throws a looping overhand right but Rey ducks down to avoid it.
Sloppy strikes from Maximus. Those never looked like landing.

Rey moves into the clinch successfully.

Maximus defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rey.

Rey lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Maximus throws a right hand that Rey ducks under and follows up with a left that Rey also avoids with ease.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Rey.
No joy there for Maximus, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Rey shoots in and bounces Maximus off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Maximus is trying to keep Rey in close.

Rey tries to pass the half guard into mount. Maximus knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Rey tries to stand but Maximus is controlling from the bottom.
Maximus wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that TJ Maximus will probably get the nod.

Rey dives in and grabs Maximus's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maximus pushes down on Rey's head and hops out.

Rey lands with a nice combination. Maximus backs away looking to recover.

Rey throws a right hand that Maximus ducks under and follows up with a left that Maximus also avoids with ease.
Rey shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maximus but Maximus pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
