Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mauri Pekkarinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Higgs Boson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pekkarinen's entrance music is Gay Bar. A fine choice. Boson has chosen "Large Hadron Rap" by alpinekat as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A lazy left from Boson finds it's target.
No luck for Pekkarinen with that takedown attempt.
Boson throws a head kick that misses.
Pekkarinen blocks a head kick by Boson.
Pekkarinen scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Pekkarinen lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Pekkarinen tries to bum rush Boson with a series of wild strikes but Boson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pekkarinen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Boson gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Boson tries a head kick but it misses.
Boson stuffs the takedown attempt from Pekkarinen. Pekkarinen gets slowly back to his feet.
Boson moves out of range of the body kick from Pekkarinen.
Pekkarinen misses with an uppercut. Boson saw that one coming.
Pekkarinen avoids the head kick by Boson.
Boson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Boson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pekkarinen swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Boson cracks Pekkarinen with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Boson throws a head kick but Pekkarinen moves out of range.
Higgs Boson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boson looks gassed!
Boson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Pekkarinen counters with a nice low kick that buckles Boson's knee momentarily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pekkarinen.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pekkarinen has hold of Boson's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Boson tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Pekkarinen cranks the arm and Boson screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Boson, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
