PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bart Boyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seth Duplesris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bart Boyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Seth Duplesris!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyle tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Duplesris gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Boyle counters with a series of strikes. Duplesris will be more careful next time no doubt.
Duplesris dodges the punch combination from Boyle.

Duplesris gets the takedown into side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Duplesris postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Duplesris throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Duplesris decides to stand back up.
Duplesris shoots in and drives through. Boyle sprawls well.

Duplesris scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Duplesris gets to mount! Boyle was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Duplesris wants to control the pace but Boyle is squirming around nicely.

Duplesris is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Duplesris with shots to the head and body - Boyle looks very uncomfortable down there.
Boyle sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
It looks like Duplesris might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Duplesris should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Seth Duplesris.
Boyle shoots in but Duplesris avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Duplesris feints and as Boyle raises his hands in defense, Duplesris changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Duplesris postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Boyle is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Duplesris, into his guard.

Boyle is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Duplesris's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Duplesris's back!

Boyle shoots in for a takedown but Duplesris shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Boyle shoots in but no luck this time.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Duplesris moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Boyle has worked his arm free - good work by Boyle!
Duplesris takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Boyle is looking for a sweep.
Boyle is not content to let Duplesris control the position.

Duplesris thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Duplesris goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Boyle rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Duplesris's guard! Nice work there by Boyle!

Duplesris has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Boyle is working away from the top position though.
Seth Duplesris is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Duplesris has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
