PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clayton Kosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tanishk Soni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kosh comes to the cage accompanied by Song 2. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Clayton Kosh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tanishk Soni!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kosh throws a hook but Soni blocks it.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kosh checks a leg kick.
Kosh throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Soni.

Soni is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kosh's half guard.
Kosh has his hands clasped together around Soni's back. He's all about the action.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Tanishk Soni.

Kosh shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Soni napping and manages to drive through into side control!
You can see the frustration on Soni's face as Kosh controls the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kosh tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kosh has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kosh has knee on belly momentarily but Soni bucks him off and regains half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clayton Kosh dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Soni connects with a leg kick. Kosh looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A cross from Soni lands.
Soni shoots in looking for a takedown but Kosh manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Soni's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kosh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Soni as he jumps to the side.
Kosh throws a right hand that Soni ducks under and follows up with a left that Soni also avoids with ease.
Soni throws a looping overhand right but Kosh ducks down to avoid it.
Kosh shoots in for a takedown but Soni shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kosh looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Soni is fending him off so far but Kosh persists. Nope, Soni circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clayton Kosh. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fight stays on the outside here - Soni looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Soni shoots in for a takedown but Kosh shows good takedown defense.
Soni doesn't manage to clinch there - Kosh circles away.

Kosh closes the distance and clinches up with Soni, looking for a takedown. Kosh pushes Soni against the cage but Soni circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Soni misses with a takedown attempt - Kosh sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Soni uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kosh.
Soni pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Kosh closes the distance and clinches up with Soni, looking for a takedown. Kosh pushes Soni against the cage but Soni circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Soni shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kosh as he avoids it easily.
Soni misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kosh swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Soni counters by moving into the clinch.
Kosh goes for a takedown attempt but Soni pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Soni lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Soni dodges the punch combination from Kosh.
Soni ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Kosh throws the kick towards the body but Soni avoids it.
Kosh tries for a takedown but Soni sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
The fighters circle momentarily. Soni darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Tanishk Soni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A combination from Soni does no damage.
Soni misses with a kick to the body.
Kosh tries for a takedown but Soni sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Soni looks for a takedown but Kosh sprawls well.
Soni shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kosh but Kosh pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kosh misses with a two punch combination.

Soni scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Clayton Kosh has been cut.
Kosh keeps the fight on the outside.
Kosh tries for a takedown but Soni circles away easily
and Soni counters with an inside leg kick.

Kosh looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Soni!
Soni is desperately trying to improve his position but Kosh has a good base and remains in mount.

Kosh is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Soni has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Soni!
Soni wants to control from the top but Kosh keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kosh holds on and takes a little breather.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tanishk Soni wasn't active enough on the ground.

Soni throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kosh tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Soni is in Kosh's guard.
Soni must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Soni trying to control but Kosh is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tanishk Soni showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Soni tries to clinch up but Kosh circles away and keeps his distance.
Soni feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kosh's calf.

Kosh gets a double leg takedown into Soni's guard.
Kosh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soni swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kosh is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Soni is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Soni has escaped and now he's on top!
Kosh not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Soni stopping the sweep attempt from Kosh.
Soni wants to get up but he can't break Kosh's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Soni won't allow Kosh to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Clayton Kosh has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
The crowd cheers as Soni lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kosh doesn't seem phased though.
Soni lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Soni avoids a punch combination nicely.

Soni closes the distance and clinches.

Kosh has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Soni uses from the top position.

Kosh has his feet on Soni's thighs here. He's pushed Soni off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Soni screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Clayton Kosh!
During a confident post fight interview, Clayton Kosh thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
