The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Takahashi was well out of range. Poor timing from Gracie.
Takahashi throws the kick towards the body but Gracie avoids it.
Takahashi goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Takahashi moves out of range of the strikes.
Gracie throws a looping overhand right but Takahashi ducks down to avoid it.
Takahashi throws a quick inside leg kick.
Takahashi tries to score with a low kick but Gracie moves his leg out of the way.
Takahashi connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Gracie misses with a hook.

Gracie looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Gracie is taking a breather. Takahashi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Takahashi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Takahashi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.

Takahashi is trying to control but can't.
Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Takahashi keeps working.
Gracie is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Takahashi is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold.
