The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendricks connects with a nice looking jab.
Mrd moves into range and clinches up with Hendricks.
Mrd has clasped his hands together around Hendricks's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Hendricks is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mrd is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hendricks knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mrd wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hendricks, who protects the arm well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hendricks is staying active underneath Mrd, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mrd looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hendricks is defending against the submission attempts here by Mrd.

Mrd is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Mrd extends the arm and Hendricks is forced to tap!

Krk Mrd tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
