Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Slovnov Metatartov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ray Mond!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mond scores with a sloppy right hand. Metatartov should have avoided that one.
Metatartov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Metatartov with a poor takedown
and Mond makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Metatartov really felt that one!
Metatartov misses with a takedown attempt
and Mond counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slovnov Metatartov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Metatartov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Mond is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Metatartov is looking for a kimura here.
Metatartov seems to be working for a kimura but Mond defends the submission attempt.
Mond keeping control of the position.
Metatartov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mond is just riding it out for now. Metatartov eventually gives up the hold.
Metatartov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mond doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Metatartov.

Metatartov is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mond sees it coming and defends easily.
Mond keeping control of the position.
Mond moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Metatartov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mond is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Metatartov, into his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Mond pushing down on Metatartov's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Metatartov looking for submissions off his back.
Metatartov is breathing heavily.
Mond lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Mond winds up and cracks Metatartov with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Metatartov on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Metatartov has hold of Mond's hands but Mond slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Mond is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Mond with a couple of short strikes.
Mond postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Metatartov looks a forlorn figure.
Metatartov is rocked!
Mond postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Metatartov is out cold - huge knockout for Mond!
