The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mamma scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Mamma tries for a kimura but Takala is defending well.
Mamma advances nicely into full mount.

Mamma is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Takala has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Takala!
Takala's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Takala really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mamma escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Takala gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Takala content to stall in guard here.

Mamma has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Takala has passed into side control.
Takala slows the pace down.
Mamma tries to improve position but can't.
Mamma is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mamma manages to work his way to half guard, despite Takala's best efforts.
Takala is controlling the pace.
Mamma wants to sweep but Takala has passed to side control!

Mamma is not content to let Takala control the position.
Mamma is looking to reverse the position.
Takala content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Mamma is looking to regain half guard here but Takala keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Takala is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mamma sees it coming and defends easily.
Mamma is staying active underneath Takala, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mamma is looking to improve his position.
Takala seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mamma does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Mamma tries to roll over but Takala keeps him under control.
Takala is taking a breather. Mamma says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Takala is keen to just control but Mamma is a slippery customer.

Topi Takala has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Mamma tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Takala throws a low kick but it's checked well by Mamma.
Takala moves out of range of the leg kick from Mamma.
Mamma takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Katt Mamma seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takala takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Mamma cracks the inside of Takala's front leg.

Mamma looks to land a body kick but Takala moved away.
Good leg kick by Takala there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Topi Takala is winning the standup battle so far.
Takala tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mamma was well out of range. Poor timing from Takala.
A jab from Takala does it's job there.
Donk. Takala catches Mamma right on the button with a cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mamma tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Takala swivels and escapes.
Topi Takala has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Katt Mamma.
Takala looks to land a combination. Mamma sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

It looks like Katt Mamma has been cut.
Takala displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mamma.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Takala checks a leg kick.
Mamma shoots in for a takedown but Takala shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Mamma is breathing heavily.
Takala thuds his right hand into Mamma's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Takala lands with a hook. Mamma tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Mamma fails to land the takedown.
Takala punishes Mamma's body with a nice straight punch.
Takala lands a nice hook to Mamma's body. Mamma takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Mamma has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mamma there as he acknowledges the shot.
Takala jabs Mamma to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Takala is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Mamma throws a push kick but Takala slaps the foot to one side.

Takala lands a big right hand that sends Mamma crashing to the mat! Takala stays standing though and waves Mamma back to his feet!

Mamma is rocked!

Mamma glances at the clock... BAM! Takala nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Mamma crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Mamma is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
