Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Melvin Cronkite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiruku Matah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cronkite might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Croc song!. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Melvin Cronkite!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hiruku Matah!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matah shoots in for a double leg but Cronkite sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Matah darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Cronkite actively working from the bottom here.
Cronkite is looking for a sweep. Matah is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Matah wants to pass the guard but Cronkite is defending well.
Cronkite tries to roll over but Matah keeps him under control.
Cronkite is trying to maintain the position but Matah is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Cronkite manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Matah stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cronkite swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Matah drops back looking for a leg! Cronkite is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cronkite manages to kick Matah off! Matah jumps back into Cronkite's guard.
Cronkite looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Matah avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cronkite is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cronkite keeping full guard, as Matah tries to pass.
Matah is pushing down on Cronkite's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cronkite is fighting to maintain full guard but Matah has managed to sneak the leg through.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Cronkite slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Matah tries to free his leg and advance position but Cronkite is retaining full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cronkite wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Matah must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Cronkite trying to control the position.

Matah drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Matah jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Matah pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cronkite is keeping the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Cronkite working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Matah doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Matah manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cronkite bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Matah's guard.

Cronkite cracks Matah with a solid left hand.

Cronkite stands and throws Matah's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Cronkite in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Matah is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
