PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jose Paru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Onizuka Stresemann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paru comes to the cage accompanied by Tropa de Elite, osso duro de roer. Stresemann is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Takashi Sorimachi - Poison . The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Paru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Onizuka Stresemann!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stresemann throws a hook but Paru avoids it easily.
Paru tries to close the distance and clinch but Stresemann swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Stresemann throws a big shot that misses.
Jose Paru seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Paru rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stresemann moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Stresemann lands with a hook. Paru tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Stresemann thows a body shot but no joy.

Paru shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Paru wants to pass the guard but Stresemann is defending well.

The fighters are battling for position here. Stresemann manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Stresemann is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Paru stands and throws Stresemann's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Stresemann manages to work his way to half guard, despite Paru's best efforts.
Paru winds up and cracks Stresemann with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Paru takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Paru in particular looking to stall.
Paru seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Stresemann does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Stresemann had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Paru defends it easily.
Paru passes Stresemann's left leg - he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Onizuka Stresemann will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Stresemann is trying to control the action in half guard but Paru is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Paru wants to control but Stresemann is keeping busy.

Paru fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Stresemann avoids it really well and circles away.

Stresemann closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Paru quickly recovers to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Onizuka Stresemann comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stresemann has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
