The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sonnen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Abieezer asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Abieezer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sonnen keeps working.

Abieezer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sonnen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Abieezer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sonnen is pushing Abieezer's head away, looking to escape. Abieezer manages to hold on to the position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Abieezer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sonnen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Abieezer swings around for an armbar but Sonnen sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Abieezer's guard.

Ryan Sonnen is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Abieezer throws his legs up looking for a submission but Sonnen uses it to pass to side control.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gideon Abieezer.
I think Sonnen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
