PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jakob Kellerman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kellerman comes to the cage accompanied by When Darkness Falls. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jakob Kellerman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Jones!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones tries to clinch but fails miserably
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Kellerman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Kellerman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jones wants to clinch.
Kellerman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones misses with a kick to the body
and Kellerman makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Jones tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Kellerman counters with a big head kick but Jones shrugs it off.
Kellerman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
James Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jones moves into range and clinches up with Kellerman.
Jones with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Jones utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

and Kellerman makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

and Kellerman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kellerman.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kellerman ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kellerman no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Kellerman wants to stand but Jones is controlling the position.
Kellerman looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Kellerman is pushing down on Jones's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jones is fighting to maintain full guard but Kellerman has managed to sneak the leg through.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kellerman is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Kellerman is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Jones is defending well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jakob Kellerman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kellerman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kellerman lands in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Kellerman throws a right and a left that Jones avoids nicely.

and Kellerman counters with a left and a right that stings Jones.


Jones is rocked!

Jones closes the distance but Kellerman moves to the side
and Kellerman counters with a left right combination that sends Jones crashing to the mat - Kellerman wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Jones out for a TKO! Devastating finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jakob Kellerman!
An out of breath Jakob Kellerman thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
