The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Popovich throws a series of strikes that have Carano backpedaling.
Carano tries to clinch up.
Popovich connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Carano's hands.
Popovich scores with a nice strike.
Popovich throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Carano.
Popovich stalks Carano and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Carano's face. Carano staggers backwards, shaken.
Popovich connects with a good right hand that stumbles Carano. Carano circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Popovich lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Carano is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Carano closes the distance and clinches up with Popovich, looking for a takedown. Carano pushes Popovich against the cage but Popovich circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Carano is still on wobbly legs! Can Popovich finish him?
A head kick misses from Carano.
Carano seems to have recovered his senses.
Carano shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Popovich as he jumps to the side.

Popovich's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Popovich duly obliges.
Popovich throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Popovich is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Carano walks into a left hand.
Popovich slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Popovich pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Carano back to the cage. Popovich follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Popovich defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carano.
Alyosha Popovich has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jobber Carano.
Nice takedown defense from Popovich. No joy for Carano on that attempt.

Carano throws a wild hook but Popovich just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Carano gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Popovich raises his hands in celebration and walks away!
