PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Atlas MacDowell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Auto Pilot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think MacDowell might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Face The Pain. Auto Pilot has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Atlas MacDowell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Auto Pilot!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Pilot.

MacDowell shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pilot manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Pilot had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. MacDowell defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pilot wants to control but MacDowell is keeping busy and won't allow it.

MacDowell wants to pass to mount but Pilot is defending the position.
Pilot has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. MacDowell is working away from the top position though.
Pilot is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

MacDowell is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pilot defends it well.
MacDowell tries to pass to full mount but Pilot defends it.

MacDowell is working for a submission of some sort.
Pilot keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Pilot wants to control but MacDowell is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Pilot is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but MacDowell pulls his head out easily.
Pilot is refusing to be controlled, as MacDowell sits in half guard.
Pilot is in trouble now - MacDowell has advanced to mount!
MacDowell landing strikes from the mount and Pilot is in trouble!

Pilot can't escape the position.
Pilot regains half guard.
Pilot moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Pilot trying to keep a closed guard but MacDowell is proving a slippery customer.
MacDowell forces his way into half guard.
MacDowell looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
MacDowell prevents Pilot from improving his position.

Pilot looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
MacDowell lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Pilot is looking to improve his position.
MacDowell wants to take a breather but Pilot is having none of it.
Pilot is looking to get back to full guard here but MacDowell has managed to pass to side control instead.
MacDowell tries to advance to mount but Pilot denies him.
Pilot is working to avoid the ground and pound but MacDowell connects with a decent elbow.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
MacDowell is chipping away with strikes.

MacDowell tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no MacDowell has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Pilot stops MacDowell from passing to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Atlas MacDowell dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Pilot thows a leg kick but MacDowell checks it
and MacDowell counters with a nice uppercut.
MacDowell misses with a body kick.
Pilot throws a nice outside leg kick.
Pilot misses with a low kick.
MacDowell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A punch lands to the side of Pilot 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A clash of legs there as MacDowell blocks the low kick.
MacDowell scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pilot doesn't seem bothered though.
MacDowell lands with a thumping leg kick.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Pilot checks a leg kick.
MacDowell throws a hook but Pilot blocks it.

It looks like Auto Pilot has been cut.
MacDowell misses with a knee to the head.
MacDowell lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Pilot is leaning against MacDowell and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

MacDowell digs a right hand into Pilot's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Pilot's gas tank.

MacDowell lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Pilot backwards.
MacDowell is trying to push Pilot away but Pilot has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, MacDowell just misses with a elbow thrown towards Pilot's brow.
MacDowell is looking to break free of the clinch but Pilot has double underhooks.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pilot fakes a jab and throws a low kick but MacDowell checks it well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

MacDowell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pilot can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


MacDowell moves out of range of the body kick from Pilot.
Pilot throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around MacDowell's waist but MacDowell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pilot off to one side.
MacDowell is looking to wear down Pilot with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
MacDowell tries to close the distance and clinch but Pilot swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pilot keeps the fight on the outside.
Pilot uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from MacDowell.

Pilot explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Pilot lands a glancing blow to the side of MacDowell's head.
Pilot throws a leg kick which misses MacDowell's front leg but catches the back leg as MacDowell tries to avoid it.
Pilot fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. MacDowell looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Pilot tries to clinch up but MacDowell circles away and keeps his distance.
Pilot clobbers MacDowell with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
MacDowell takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Atlas MacDowell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pilot attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
MacDowell looks to land a combination but Pilot avoids it well.

MacDowell lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The fight stays on the outside here - Pilot looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

MacDowell takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Good leg kick by Pilot there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

MacDowell buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Atlas MacDowell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

I would just about give that final round to Auto Pilot.
Well MacDowell has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
