PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Norris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ymcmb Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Junior has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ymcmb Junior!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Norris tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Junior paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Junior looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Junior blocks a head kick by Norris.

Junior tries to keep at a distance but Norris has taken the fight into the clinch.

Norris breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Norris misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Norris moves into the clinch.

Junior tries to close the distance and clinch but Norris swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Norris closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Junior to the mat! Junior manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Norris decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Junior, up you get!
Norris throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Norris closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Junior quickly recovers to half guard.

Norris stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Junior to get to his feet.

Junior takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Junior shoots for a double leg takedown but Norris sprawls well. He's pushed Junior's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Junior is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Junior is trying to pull guard but Norris turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Norris looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Norris's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Junior throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Norris wants to stand up but Junior has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Junior is looking to control Norris's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Junior avoid being mounted?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior is trying to break the clinch but Norris has him pressed against the cage.

Norris has picked Junior up - he's going for a ride! Norris dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Norris is nestled in close to Junior, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ymcmb Junior hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
