PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miklo Velka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bud Macintosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velka comes to the cage accompanied by Cypress Hill - Insane In The Membrane. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velka tries to land a front kick but Macintosh steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Velka wants to clinch up but Macintosh keeps it at a distance.
Macintosh takes a swing at Velka's ribcage but misses.
Macintosh fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Velka manages to avoid it.
Bud Macintosh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circling - Macintosh throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Macintosh tries to score a power double leg takedown but Velka sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Macintosh somewhat.
Macintosh takes one on the button.
Macintosh blocks a head kick by Velka.

Velka gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Macintosh slips nicely into half guard.
Velka looks like he's trying to stand up.

Macintosh is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Velka doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Macintosh.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Macintosh is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Velka is just riding it out for now. Macintosh eventually gives up the hold.
Macintosh looks to land a strike but Velka avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Macintosh throws a big elbow that misses.
Macintosh sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Velka's guard.

Macintosh is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Velka doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Macintosh.
Macintosh is just content to waste time from the top position. Velka takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Macintosh cracks Velka with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Macintosh ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Velka moves away.

Macintosh looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Velka dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

A nice inside leg kick there by Velka. That's going to slow Macintosh down.

Velka throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Velka pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Velka looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Macintosh has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Velka finds it's way round the side to connect with Macintosh's head.
Velka cracks a nice hook into Macintosh's ribs.
Macintosh displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Velka throws out the jab.

Velka has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Velka there as he acknowledges the shot.
Velka takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Macintosh throws a shot to the body.
Macintosh shoots in for a takedown but Velka shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Velka looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Macintosh connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Velka momentarily.

Macintosh jabs Velka right on the nose. Velka blinks but takes it well.

Macintosh shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Velka napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Macintosh wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Velka, who protects the arm well.
Macintosh advances nicely into full mount.

Macintosh shoots in looking for a takedown. Velka tries to sprawl out of it but Macintosh keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Velka manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Macintosh takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Velka avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Macintosh steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Velka. That one must have hurt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Macintosh tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Velka just stands there and leans against the cage.

It looks like Bud Macintosh has been cut.
Macintosh swings wildly with an uppercut but Velka uses good head movement to avoid it.

Macintosh has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Velka is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Velka has Macintosh pushed against the cage.
Macintosh is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Velka to keep the fight standing.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Bud Macintosh decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
