PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Piano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Raybould (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kevin Raybould was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Piano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin Raybould!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raybould throws an overhand right that lands on Piano's shoulder, as Piano tries to avoid the shot.
Don Piano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Piano defending well as Raybould loads up on a big left hand.
Raybould fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Piano manages to avoid it.
Raybould takes a swing at Piano's ribcage but misses.
Raybould rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Piano moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Piano fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Piano tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Raybould was well out of range. Poor timing from Piano.
Raybould darts in trying to clinch
and Piano counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Piano uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Raybould.

Piano gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Piano has picked Raybould up - he's going for a ride! Piano dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Piano works his foot free and advances to mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Poor strikes thrown by Piano there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Piano lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Piano goes for an armbar but Raybould turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Raybould.
Piano looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Piano wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Piano is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Raybould's corner is telling him to maintain position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Raybould takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Raybould misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Piano.
Kevin Raybould is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Raybould ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Piano moves away.
Raybould dodges the punch combination from Piano.
No luck for Piano with that takedown attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Piano misses with a wild body shot.
Piano throws a hook but Raybould avoids it easily.

Raybould fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Piano, pushing him back against the cage.
Raybould scores with an uppercut up the middle.


It looks like Don Piano has been cut.
Piano wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Don Piano. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Raybould tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Piano lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Raybould backwards.
Raybould lands a hook to the side of the head.
Raybould tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Piano blocks a body shot from Raybould.
Raybould stalling in the clinch but Piano improves position.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Raybould tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Piano tries to break free but Raybould pushes him back against the cage.
Piano is trying to break the clinch but Raybould has him pressed against the cage.

Piano has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Raybould avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Raybould effectively controlling the action here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Raybould tries to work over Piano's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Piano is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Raybould can't fight it off and eventually Piano manages to take the fight to the floor. Raybould looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Piano trying to control the position from guard on top but Raybould is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Piano drops back looking for a leg! Raybould is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Raybould manages to kick Piano off! Piano jumps back into Raybould's guard.
Raybould really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Piano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Piano trying to control but Raybould is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don Piano dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Don Piano's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Raybould uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Piano.
Piano fails with the takedown.

Piano throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Raybould tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Piano is in Raybould's guard.
Raybould wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Raybould utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Raybould can do anything to dispel that myth.
Raybould has Piano pulled in close to control his posture.
Piano pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Raybould is keeping the position for now.

Kevin Raybould has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Piano throws a poor cross that misses

and Raybould counters with a head kick that drops Piano to the mat! Piano scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Piano is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Raybould thows a body shot but no joy.
Piano takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Oh Piano is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Raybould drops Piano with a big left hand! Piano is injured, injured bad! Raybould jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kevin Raybould!
