Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ray Oliver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Fassak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oliver comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman-Metallica. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Al Fassak enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ray Oliver!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Al Fassak!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliver shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fassak pinned against the cage. Fassak gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Oliver shoots for a takedown but Fassak saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Oliver has his takedown stuffed
and Fassak connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ray Oliver. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fassak forces Oliver back against the cage and clinches.
Fassak stalling the fight.

Oliver decides to pull guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Fassak pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Oliver is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fassak wants to control from the top but Oliver keeps moving.

Fassak trying to control but Oliver is working from the bottom.

Al Fassak has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Oliver has his takedown stuffed
and Fassak counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Oliver dives in and grabs Fassak's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fassak pushes down on Oliver's head and hops out.

Fassak feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fassak wants to pass the guard but Oliver is keeping the position.
Fassak trying to control the position from guard on top but Oliver is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fassak might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Oliver kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Al Fassak was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Oliver has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Fassak clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Oliver is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Fassak knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Fassak for a finish.

Oliver is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Fassak defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Oliver really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Fassak.
Fassak looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Oliver is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Oliver is punishing Fassak with some ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Oliver is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Fassak with him. Fassak is trying to defend but Oliver has an arm under the chin now! Fassak grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ray Oliver!
