PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Cohen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eliah Marshal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Cohen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Eliah Marshal!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marshal bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Cohen's head backwards.
Marshal wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Marshal looks to land a left hand but Cohen moved out of range nicely.
Marshal throws a shot to the body.
Marshal looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Marshal bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Cohen's head backwards.
Marshal misses with a low kick.
Marshal fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cohen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Cohen shoots in looking for a takedown. Marshal tries to sprawl out of it but Cohen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Marshal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cohen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marshal's waist but Marshal gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cohen off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Cohen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Marshal throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Cohen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Cohen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Cohen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Marshal walks away with a smile on his face. Cohen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Marshal.
Marshal is pressed up against the cage. Cohen has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Marshal down to the mat. Marshal avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Cohen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marshal's waist but Marshal gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cohen off to one side.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Marshal has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
