The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pacquiao swivels and escapes.
Smith fails with the takedown.
Smith throws a combination that misses
and Pacquiao counters with a one-two to the body.
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Pacquiao tries to sprawl but Smith drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Smith throwing shots but Pacquiao is blocking nicely.

Smith is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Pacquiao works his way to full guard. Good work.
Pacquiao wants to stand but Smith is controlling the position.

Smith drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pacquiao looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pacquiao looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pacquiao!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pacquiao wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Manny Pacquiao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Smith.
Pacquiao leaves Smith with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pacquiao bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Smith's head backwards.
Pacquiao throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pacquiao scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Pacquiao wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Pacquiao.
Smith looks gassed!
Smith doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Pacquiao circles away from the clinch attempt
and Pacquiao counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pacquiao defends it nicely.
Smith walks into a straight right hand from Pacquiao.
Smith doesn't manage to clinch there - Pacquiao circles away.
Smith closes the distance but Pacquiao moves to the side
and Pacquiao counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Pacquiao sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pacquiao is looking to wear down Smith with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Pacquiao scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Pacquiao digs a good body shot into Smith's ribs.
Pacquiao lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Smith backs up against the cage.
A jab lands there for Pacquiao.
Pacquiao connects with a nice looking jab.
Pacquiao connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Pacquiao lands with an uppercut that bounces Smith off the cage and back into range.
Smith fails with the takedown
and Pacquiao counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Smith thinking.
Pacquiao blocks a head kick by Smith.
Smith shoots and misses
and Pacquiao counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smith fails with the takedown.
Pacquiao lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Smith is rocked!
Pacquiao is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Pacquiao cracks Smith on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Smith falls backwards against the cage. Pacquiao follows up with more strikes that drop Smith to his knees. Pacquiao keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Smith! This one is all over!
