Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between BeeJay Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mustaffa Spliff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, BeeJay Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Mustaffa Spliff!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Dmitry Maklakov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn throws a looping overhand right but Spliff ducks down to avoid it.
Spliff fails with a takedown attempt.
Spliff tries to clinch up but Penn circles away and keeps his distance.
Spliff finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Spliff looks to land a combination but Penn avoids it well.
Spliff keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Penn tries to bum rush Spliff with a series of wild strikes but Spliff uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Spliff feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Spliff looks up at the clock and then as Penn takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Spliff smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Penn is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Spliff asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Penn is staying active underneath Spliff, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Spliff lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Spliff shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Penn eats them both and turns towards Spliff to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

The fighters circle momentarily. Penn darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Penn misses with a hook.
Penn misses with a straight right.
An inside leg kick lands from Penn.
Penn takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Spliff shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Penn defends it nicely.

Well Spliff has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
