Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Declan Duddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rolls Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Wu-Tang Clan - The Mystery Of Chessboxin. Declan Duddy has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Gracie. Duddy does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gracie throws out a loose jab but Duddy uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gracie misses the body punch

and Duddy counters with a single leg into guard. Gracie didn't expect that.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Duddy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Gracie preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Gracie manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Gracie throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Duddy holds on to Gracie around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.
Duddy wants to hold on but Gracie pushes him away.

Duddy is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gracie is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Duddy slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Gracie wants to work for an arm triangle but Duddy is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Duddy is not content to let Gracie control the position.

Gracie is just content to waste time from the top position. Duddy takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Duddy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between Duddy's legs - danger averted.

Duddy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gracie defends well.

Duddy had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gracie defends it easily.

Gracie throws a strike but Duddy rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Gracie is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Duddy has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Gracie!

Duddy looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gracie tries to score with a low kick but Duddy moves his leg out of the way.
Gracie misses with a jab, cross combination.

Gracie lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Gracie looks to land a left hand but Duddy moved out of range nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Duddy is defended easily by Gracie.
Duddy tries to clinch but Gracie moves out of range.
Duddy shoots in but no luck this time.
Gracie throws a shot from downtown. Duddy moves away and avoids it.

Duddy shoots for a double leg takedown but Gracie sprawls well. He's pushed Duddy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Declan Duddy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gracie stalks Duddy and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Duddy's face. Duddy staggers backwards, shaken.

Duddy uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gracie.
Rolls Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Duddy wants to clinch up but Gracie keeps it at a distance.
Duddy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Gracie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Duddy blocks a jab.
Nice uppercut lands for Gracie. That snapped Duddy's head back.

Gracie takes a swing at Duddy's ribcage but misses.
Duddy fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Duddy counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Duddy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
