Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rashad Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Alberto Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evans comes to the cage accompanied by j. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rashad Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luis Alberto Perez!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez throws a lazy right hand but Evans sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Perez misses with a low kick.

Evans shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Perez's guard.
Evans trying to control the position from guard on top but Perez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Evans drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Evans jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Perez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Evans trying to control but Perez is working from the bottom.
Evans stays in close to Perez's body and controls the position.
Perez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Evans accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Evans lands a couple of elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Evans postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Evans is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Evans is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Perez wants to get back to his feet but Evans is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Evans wants to pass the guard but Perez is keeping the position.
Evans trying to control but Perez is working from the bottom.
Perez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Evans is controlling him.
Evans throwing strikes but missing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Evans missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Evans trying to control the position from guard on top but Perez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Evans is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Evans slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Perez is trying to work for a sweep but Evans has mounted him!
Perez is squirming around, avoiding Evans's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Evans landing strikes, looking to finish!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A nice elbow there by Evans.
Perez wants to control but Evans is having none of it.
Evans landing strikes from the mount and Perez is in trouble!
Evans is in the full mount, landing strikes.


Perez is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Evans loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Perez scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Evans land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Evans stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rashad Evans!
