Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ron James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and M J Shain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Shain's choice of entrance music: Thunderstruck. Ron James could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to M J Shain's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 13 - 1, fighting out of New York, M J Shain!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Columbo Gatti and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shain misses with a hook. James ducked under it nicely.
Shain throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Shain uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before James has time to react.
James gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Shain tries to keep at a distance but James has taken the fight into the clinch.
Shain doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Shain misses with a body punch.
James swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Shain lands a left hand that snaps the head of James backwards.
Shain stalling in the clinch but James improves position.
Shain takes a shot to the head.
Shain tries to throw a body punch but James avoids it by throwing Shain back against the cage.
James tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
James blocks a body shot from Shain.
James pushes Shain back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
James lands a left hand that snaps the head of Shain backwards.

Shain blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Shain tries to circle away but James has him pinned against the cage.

James blocks a punch to the side of the head.
James throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Shain throws a head punch that misses.

James lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

James drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shain manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now James has Shain in his guard.

James is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shain is aware though and is defending well.

Shain takes a swing at James's ribcage but misses.
James fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Shain checks it well.
Shain just misses with a punch to the body.
Shain has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Shain there as he acknowledges the shot.
James takes one on the chin but seems OK.
James shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shain sprawls well. Shain wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. James gets slowly back to his feet.
James throws a front kick that sends Shain stumbling back into the cage.

James moves out of range as Shain strikes.
James shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shain defends it nicely.

James throws a push kick but Shain slaps the foot to one side.
Shain pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
James thuds his right hand into Shain's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Horrible takedown by James or perhaps it was just good defense by Shain which made him look bad.

James drops his hands momentarily and Shain takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Shain throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Shain moves out of range as James throws a body kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shain. James does a little dance to reset his feet.
James slips under a jab.

Shain tries a head kick but it misses.
Shain lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Shain.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shain sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
James uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shain.
James shoots in for a takedown but Shain shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Shain works the jab nicely.
Shain fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
James misses with a leg kick
and Shain connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
James's jab looks to have found its range, popping Shain under the eye.
M J Shain seems to be getting the better of the standup.

James buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

James uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Shain.

Shain is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by James.

Shain has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but James can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
