The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Omaly was covering up waiting for the punch and Gibson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Omaly is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gibson defends well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gibson connects with a nice short shot to Omaly's temple.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gibson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Omaly defends it well.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Omaly shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Omaly showed some decent athleticism there.
Gibson holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Omaly not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Omaly seems to be working for a kimura but Gibson defends the submission attempt.
Omaly winds up and cracks Gibson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
It looks like Scott Gibson has been cut.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Gibson postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Omaly out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Gibson goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!
