Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mitsuyo Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fook yu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). yu has chosen MegaDeth- This Day We FIGHT! as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Mitsuyo Maeda has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mitsuyo Maeda seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mitsuyo Maeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fook yu!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maeda shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Maeda postures up in yu's guard and throws a big left but yu blocks it.

yu is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

yu had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Maeda defends it easily.

yu utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

yu looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Maeda wants to free his trapped foot but yu is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Maeda looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks yu with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
yu on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
yu manages to get to full guard.
Maeda throwing strikes but missing.
Maeda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Maeda sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed yu's guard.

Maeda is nestled in close to yu, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

yu is looking for a sweep. Maeda is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Maeda lands a nice short elbow.

Maeda thows a huge punch but yu dodges it nicely.

Maeda takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
yu wants to improve his position but Maeda is controlling well.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Maeda lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maeda looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks yu with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
yu regains full guard. Nicely done.

yu has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Maeda can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Maeda throws a lazy right hand but yu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Maeda throws a jab when yu was well out of range.
Maeda takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Maeda tests yu's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Maeda drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

yu is rocked!
Maeda scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at yu to see if he's OK.
yu is still in real trouble! Can Maeda finish him?
Maeda working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Maeda lands a strong strike to the head of yu. That's dazed him! Maeda looking to finish here. yu is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Maeda lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mitsuyo Maeda!
