Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aftas Ardem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Rude (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aftas Ardem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rick Rude!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ardem throws a wild body kick that Rude sees coming a mile off.
Ardem connects with an inside leg kick.
Ardem pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ardem closes the distance looking to clinch

and Rude counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Rude seems to be looking for submissions.

Rude is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ardem has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rude is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Rude wants to free his trapped foot but Ardem is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Well, if Rude is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Rude takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Rude looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Rude is looking to advance position but Ardem won't allow it.
Rude is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Rude seems to be working for a kimura but Ardem defends the submission attempt.

Rude is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ardem defends it well.

Rude wants to work for an arm triangle but Ardem is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Ardem is trying to control but can't.
Ardem makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ardem.
Rude trying to control the position from guard on top but Ardem is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rude sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ardem's guard.
Ardem works his way to full guard. Good work.
Rude advances position into side control!
Rude remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Ardem is not content to let Rude control the position.

Rude tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rude has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Rude wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ardem, who protects the arm well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's time! Ardem's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Ardem is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ardem rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rude moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rude blocks a head kick by Ardem.
A head kick misses from Ardem.
Rude gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ardem counters with an outside leg kick.
Ardem throws a leg kick which misses Rude's front leg but catches the back leg as Rude tries to avoid it.
Ardem tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Rude avoids the body shot from Ardem.
Ardem stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ardem wants it to stay on the feet.
Ardem throws a nice inside leg kick.
Ardem tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rude swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ardem throws a lazy uppercut

and Rude counters with a shoot takedown. Ardem fights it but they end up in guard.
Ardem wants to get back to his feet but Rude is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Rude controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rude wants to pass the guard but Ardem is keeping the position.
Rude is pushing down on Ardem's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ardem is fighting to maintain full guard but Rude has managed to sneak the leg through.

Rude is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ardem is just riding it out for now. Rude eventually gives up the hold.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rude moves nicely into side control.

Ardem is not content to let Rude control the position.

Rude working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Ardem is looking to reverse the position.
Ardem can't do much from the bottom here.
Ardem is looking to reverse the position.

Rude wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ardem, who protects the arm well.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
You can see the frustration on Ardem's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Rude is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ardem knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Rick Rude showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Rude shoots in but Ardem avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ardem displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rude.
Ardem throws a sloppy head kick and Rude moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aftas Ardem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ardem is looking to control Rude's arms but Rude gets an underhook and turns him. Now Ardem has his back to the cage.

Rude has clasped his hands together around Ardem's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Ardem tries to buck Rude off but Rude is having none of it.

Ardem gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Rude is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rude seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ardem does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rick Rude is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Rude tries to pass to full mount but Ardem defends it.

Rick Rude comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Rude winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
