The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia lands a nice shot to the body.
Salsep avoids the body shot from Maia.

Maia throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Salsep was covering up waiting for the punch and Maia finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Maia has gone for a leg lock! Salsep slips out almost immediately though and dives into Maia's guard.

Maia pulls Salsep in close to his closed guard and prevents Salsep from doing any damage or advancing position.
Maia's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
