Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Colon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Sahebt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santiago Colon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Santiago Colon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Sahebt!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sahebt shoots in for a takedown but Colon shows good takedown defense.
Sahebt shoots in looking for a takedown but Colon manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sahebt's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Colon fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Sahebt has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Sahebt throws a big shot that misses.
Sahebt takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Sahebt takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Sahebt looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Santiago Colon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Sahebt.
Sahebt misses with a two punch combination.
Colon scores with a hook.
Colon slips a jab and a cross from Sahebt.
Horrible takedown by Sahebt or perhaps it was just good defense by Colon which made him look bad.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sahebt fails with a takedown attempt.
Colon lands a jab to Sahebt's midsection.
Sahebt looks gassed!

Sahebt closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Colon moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Colon pulls Sahebt in to control the position.
Colon looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Colon is controlling Sahebt's posture.
Sahebt trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Colon is trying to control the position but Sahebt postures up.

We're going to have a standup here because Santiago Colon wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A big right from Sahebt misses.
Sahebt shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Colon sprawls well. Colon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sahebt gets slowly back to his feet.
Colon connects with a good right hand that stumbles Sahebt. Sahebt circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Sahebt.
Colon scores with a decent looking hook.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sahebt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Colon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Colon can't do much from the bottom here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sahebt is looking to take a break and control but Colon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sahebt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sahebt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Colon tries to bench press Sahebt off him but Sahebt keeps the position.

Sahebt trying to control the position but Colon is working away.
Colon is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Colon is trying to get back to full guard.

Sahebt maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Colon could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Sahebt has cracked it and Colon is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Sahebt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). James Sahebt!
James Sahebt was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
