PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Little Tarzan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marc De Ertu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Little Tarzan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marc De Ertu!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tarzan gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
De Ertu is trying to stand back up but Tarzan is controlling him

Tarzan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and De Ertu defends it well.
De Ertu is trying to control but can't.

Tarzan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but De Ertu sees it coming and defends easily.
Tarzan prevents De Ertu from improving his position.
De Ertu is trying to maintain the position but Tarzan is very close to passing his half guard.
De Ertu gets full guard.

De Ertu is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tarzan defends well.

De Ertu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tarzan is working away from the top position though.

Tarzan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. De Ertu doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tarzan.
De Ertu pushes Tarzan off looking to stand but Tarzan dives back in and keeps control.

Tarzan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tarzan is pressing down on De Ertu's thigh, looking to free his foot. De Ertu is holding on for now.

Tarzan is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, De Ertu has managed to free his arm - good work.

Tarzan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
De Ertu wants to control but Tarzan is keeping busy.

De Ertu gets to his feet. Tarzan looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and De Ertu counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Tarzan is looking for a triangle but De Ertu pushes his legs off easily.
Tarzan is breathing heavily.
De Ertu looking to sit in guard and control but Tarzan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Little Tarzan will probably get the nod.
That's time! Tarzan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Tarzan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. De Ertu sprawls well initially but Tarzan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Tarzan seems to be working for a kimura but De Ertu defends the submission attempt.
De Ertu wants to control but Tarzan is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Tarzan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Tarzan wants to lay and pray for a moment but De Ertu keeps working.

De Ertu tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Tarzan sitting in guard here, content to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
De Ertu is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
De Ertu wants to pass to mount but Tarzan is defending the position.

Tarzan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
De Ertu is thwarting Tarzan's attempts to control the position.
De Ertu wants to pass to mount but Tarzan is defending the position.
De Ertu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tarzan keeps working.
De Ertu might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tarzan kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Tarzan is looking to control De Ertu's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tarzan avoid being mounted?
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

De Ertu clinches up against the cage.

Tarzan is fighting off a takedown attempt but De Ertu is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Tarzan to the mat. Tarzan regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Marc De Ertu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Tarzan enables De Ertu to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Tarzan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Tarzan wants to sweep here but De Ertu controlling him for the moment.

De Ertu got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tarzan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, De Ertu has managed to get both his arms back between Tarzan's legs - danger averted.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Little Tarzan.
I think Tarzan has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
